2023 - The least ambitious year possible.

during corona I thought that it is time for me to finally build a bicycle frame. I have carried the desire for long enough. It came to me as a half-proposition, half-question more than a decade ago: "why don't you build your own frames?". at the time, it seemed truly impossible. but, suddenly, it felt possible. still, it took me an awful lot of research and reading about the difference between 72,5 and 73 degree angle of the headset and building my own jig to hold the future frame in place while welding.

by now, I have build 5 bikes. this one is the bike which I use for my travelings, and lately they were often off-road.

for me, frame building is an important center of connection of passion, craftsmanship, ideology and inspiration. it is interesting to observe how something that was "unthinkable" become "an option".

shoemaking was also on my to do list. this particular pair were made with the question in mind "why aren't there any leather cycling boots?". Now there is at least one pair out there, and I think another one is on the way. They were made for my UK-Walles trip and they proven to be very comfortable for both: cycling and walking.

a rather signifycant checkpoint of the Moroccan Atlas Race. I was in awe ever since I saw footage from the race and wanted to follow the route, but in my own pace.

It was my second attemp to make this picture. After making the first one, my phone broke and unfortunately I was left without navigation on a mountain ridge in rainy, windy Walles.
